Estonian retail sales growth quickens In December

Estonia's retail sales volume increased at a faster pace in December, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Monday.

Retail sales, excluding automobiles, increased 5 percent on an annual basis in December, faster than the 4 percent growth seen in November, which was revised up from 3 percent.

Retail sales of grocery rose 7 percent annually, while sales of manufactured goods increased 6 percent. There was a 9 percent annual growth in retail sales of clothing, footwear and leather goods during the month, and a 3 percent decline in sales of automotive fuel.

On a monthly basis, retail sales climbed 21 percent in December, after falling 5 percent in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the month-on-month growth in sales was only 1 percent, the agency said.
