Tourist overnight stays up 15% in Estonia in September

The number of tourists staying in Estonian accommodation establishments increased from last year in September, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Wednesday.

The total number of tourists staying in the country increased 15 percent on an annual basis to 212,000 in September. The total number of nights spent by tourists totaled 419,527 during the month.

The number of domestic tourists rose 8 percent from last year to 61,000 in September. There were 151,000 overseas tourists staying in Estonian accommodation facilities in September, who accounted for 71 percent of the total visitors.

The number of Russian tourists climbed 47 percent year-on-year, while the number of British tourists almost doubled during the month, the agency said.
