17% more foreign tourists stayed a night in Estonia in November
11.01.2011, 12:59164,000 tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of Estonia in November. The figure included 101,000 foreign tourists which is 17% more than a year earlier. This includes 15,000 tourists from Russia which is two times more than in November 2009, according to Statistics Estonia.
The number of accommodated tourists from Latvia, Sweden, Germany and Norway increased. The number of tourists from Finland, which accounted for 52% of the total number of accommodated foreign tourists in November, remained on the level of November 2009. The number of tourist from the United Kingdom decreased 4%. Three quarters of the foreign tourists who used the services of accommodation establishments arrived from the EU.
In November, 730 accommodation establishments with 16,500 rooms and 36,700 beds were available for tourists. The room occupancy rate was 38%, which is 6 percentage points more than in November 2009. Compared to the summer tourism high season, the number of bed places available for visitors decreased by a fifth in November.
In November, the average cost of a guest night in an accommodation establishment was 27 euros (428 kroons), which was 1% cheaper than in the same month a year ago, but 3% more expensive than in the previous month. The average cost of a guest night in Tallinn was 32 euros (505 kroons), in Tartu 28 euros (435 kroons) and in Pärnu 21 euros (332 kroons).
