Estonian consumer prices up 5.7% in December yoy
07.01.2011, 09:37In December 2010, consumer prices in Estonia were 5.7% higher than a year earlier. Full-year inflation (2010 vs. 2009) was 3%, according to Statistics Estonia.
In full-year figures, consumer price index was mainly influenced by the 20.1% price increase of motor fuel, the 6.9% price increase of electricity, heat energy and fuels, and the 3% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
In 2010 compared to the average of the previous year, fresh vegetables were 40%, fuel oil 35%, coffee 15.9% and milk 14.7% more expensive. Regardless of the price increases at the end of the year, such food products as flour, white bread and sugar were cheaper (12.4%, 10.7% and 8.6%, respectively) in 2010 than in 2009 on average.
In December, consumer prices were 5.7% higher than in December 2009. Goods were 7.2% and services 3.2% more expensive compared to December 2009. Food products were 10.8% and manufactured goods 3.6% more expensive.
Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 8.6% and non-regulated prices by 4.8% compared to December 2009.
