Eesti Energia AS will build a wind farm in northeastern Estonia for about 60 million euros as the largest Baltic utility seeks to diversify power sources.

The Tallinn, Estonia-based company will sign the construction contract for the wind farm near Narva, with annual output of about 90 gigawatt-hours, with Germany’s Enercon GmbH “over the summer,” it said in a regulatory statement. The farm will double electricity generated from wind by Eesti Energia.

The company also plans to sign a construction contract this autumn for a wind farm on the Pakri peninsula in Paldiski, north-western Estonia, and is considering another wind farm in the Auvere area in Vaivara municipality, near Narva. Eesti Energia is also studying options for offshore wind farms in the Gulf of Riga, it added.
