Tallinn, Vilnius did better than Riga in hotel occupancy in 2009
09.04.2010, 15:31A new survey of law firm Sorainen and real estate consultancy Colliers International shows that the lowest occupancy in hotels in 2009 was in Riga at 37.7%.
Occupancy of hotel rooms in Tallinn and Vilnius was 45%, said the authors of the survey.
The number of tourists visiting Latvia in 2009 fell 30% from the 2008 level and the hotel occupancy was at the lowest for the last nine years. There are about 14,700 rooms with 32,800 beds in Latvian accommodation establishments, according to statistics.
In Estonia, a total of 2.1 million foreign and domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in 2009 or 10% less than in 2008 including 4% less among foreign tourists. 689 accommodation establishments were available for tourists.
