Estonian 3-month tax collections 24% of full-year plan
08.04.2010, 15:47Estonian tax collections totaled 23.9 percent of the full-year plan or more than a year earlier, the Finance Ministry in Tallinn said in a statement today.
By the end of March, 14.8 billion kroons in tax had been collected. This compares with 13.9 billion kroons a year ago. In March, the state collected 4 billion kroons in tax.
According to the ministry, the rise in tax revenues was attributable to the growth in stocks ahead of the rise in excise duties that took effect in January 2010.
Revenues of alcohol excise duty amounted to 620 million kroons which is 26.6% of the annual target.
Tobacco excise duty amounted to 795 million kroons at the end of March which is 43.5% of the budgeted amount for the year. Because of stocking-up in December, only 7.4 million kroons in tobacco excise duty was collected in March.
The state has also collected 1.5 billion kroons in fuel excise duty or 30.8% of the annual target.
