Registered unemployment climbs to 14.5%

Registered unemployment rate continued to climb this week and reached 14.5% with 94,129 people registered as unemployed as of yesterday. In one week, 2,518 new unemployed were registered and the total number of registered unemployed went up by 727, reports ERR.

Registered unemployment is highest in in Ida-Virumaa at 20.6% and lowest in Jõgevamaa with 9.8%.

Finance ministry has said that it expects unemployment to max at 14.8% this year.

According to the labour force survey published by Statistics Estonia, there were 107,000 unemployed in the fourth quarter which means 15.5% jobless rate.
