Unemployment level in Latvia at 15.8%
23.12.2009, 12:18At the end of December, the unemployment level in Latvia reached 15.8%, said the head of the State Employment Agency (SEA) Baiba Pasevica.
The Baltic Course quoted her saying that in the past year, the number of persons unemployed in the country has increased by 100,000. At the beginning of the year, there were 76,000 unemployed persons in the country.
According to Pasevica, this past year, the largest reduction of workplaces was seen in the public sector.
