Estonian software pirate to pay 1.6 million kroons in damages

Court has ordered 30-year-old software pirate Ott Speek to pay large damages to five software companies, reports ERR.

Speek is to pay Microsoft Corporation 0.3 million kroons, Adobe Systems Incorporated 0,1 million, Corel Corporation 21,698 kroons, Bentley Systems Incorporated 80,833 kroons and Autodesk Incorporated around 1 million kroons, all in all about 1.6 million kroons in damages.

Speek was found guilty of theft of intellectual property, manufacturing and sale of pirated software and was also sentenced conditionally into prison for a year and three months.
