Lithuanian output price inflation quickens in May
08.06.2012, 11:49Lithuania's producer price inflation accelerated in May, after slowing in the previous month, data released by by the Department of Statistics showed Thursday.
Output price inflation quickened to 5.6 percent in May from the revised 5.3 percent in April. In March, the rate of inflation was 7.1 percent. Prices of good sold in the domestic market were higher by 5.6 percent compared to last year, while export market prices advanced 5.3 percent.
Output prices in the mining and quarrying industry advanced 6.6 percent annually, while manufacturing prices moved up 4.3 percent. There was an 11.9 percent annual growth in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning during the month.
Sequentially, output prices edged down 0.2 percent in May, faster than the 0.5 percent gain recorded in April, data showed.
