The supervisory board of National Broadcasting Company has decided to propose that the management board shelves its plans to develop a new building for ERR in Tuisu street according to current designs.

„It is clear that this development would be too expensive for the state today,” Aadu Uudelepp, chairman of the supervisory board, said.

Uudelepp explained that the design in question was drawn up at the time when the Estonian economy was booming.

„At that time such development and expansion seemed justified,” he added.

According to Uudelepp, the state has no funds at present available for such a development and it would be more appropriate to invest the money in developing the technical capacity of ERR and in personnel development.

„This is requiered because we don’t want our very professional staff to seek other career opportunities outside the company,” said Uudelepp.

He added that the supervisory board has asked the management board to find opportunities how ERR could meet its need for a new studio or more modern working conditions based on the existing properties that ERR has in central Tallinn in Faehlmanni street.
